XING: The Land Beyond Logo Design

This album shows the evolution of the XING: The Land Beyond logo design I made. I really like where it ended up, as I continued to modernize it with the times leading up to release.

The Final Cover for XING: The Land Beyond. The progression below will show how I eventually got to this design.

(2012) XING Logo V1. Ok, we don't all start off with the best implementation. I got A LOT better at Photoshop after this.

(2012) XING Logo V2. We wanted to add a picture logo to the title itself, and I came up with this weird moon thing that incorporated the kite button.

(2013) For the picture logo, I spent some time coming up with a shape that represented core themes in the game. The sun and moon represented player control of the day-night cycle, and the Dharma Wheel was from Buddhism.

(2013) XING Logo V3. The title textures really needed help, so I looked up some tutorials online, as suggested by a teammate, and came up with this.

(2013) I wanted to give a sense of adventure to the title, as well as something for it to rest on when laid over images, so I made this background compass thing. The picture logo is faintly resting in the middle.

(2013) That compass took up way too much room to place on smaller images, like in corners, so I separated the title as another version. The compass slowly disappeared from marketing materials after that.

(2016) We wanted the sun/moon/wheel "picture logo" to be incorporated into the "full logo", so I came up with this, after looking at some Zelda and Chrono Trigger logos.

(2016) I made a flat-shaded version. It's useful.

(2017) Final Logo. I added a bunch of light, dust and sparkle effects to the background, to make it more magical, but also to make it more readable on any background.
